Every kid deserves a summer at camp

The Taylor Statten Camping Bursary Fund bridges the gap between camp fees and what families can afford—so young people can build confidence, friendships, and a lifelong connection to the outdoors. Entirely volunteer-run since 1972, with approximately 95% of every dollar going directly to a camper’s summer.

What we do

How we help make camp possible

We provide financial assistance to children and youth from financially disadvantaged families so they can attend accredited summer camps across Canada. The fund helps cover camp fees through a three-way partnership between the bursary, the camp, and the family.

Multi-year commitment

Once accepted, we aim to fund each camper for the duration of their camping career—up to five consecutive summers—provided they continue to meet eligibility criteria.

No eligible camper turned away

We are deeply committed to supporting every eligible camper and work hard to grow our fundraising to keep pace with demand.

100% volunteer-run

Our Board and volunteers donate their time, keeping overhead minimal so the overwhelming majority of every dollar raised goes directly to bursaries.

Why camp matters

Camp shapes confidence, independence, and belonging

Time at camp gives young people space to grow, form lasting friendships, and build a stronger connection to the outdoors—experiences that stay with them long after summer ends.

How it works

A straightforward process for families and supporters

1

Family applies

Families submit an application describing their situation and the camp their child would like to attend.

2

A three-way partnership

The camp reduces its fee. The bursary covers the majority of the remainder. The family contributes what they can.

3

Camper attends — and returns

Once accepted, we commit for the full duration of a camper's career—up to five consecutive summers.

Who can apply

Children and youth whose families face financial barriers to camp fees. Awards are need-based.

What you’ll need

A short application, a reference, and basic financial information. All applications are reviewed confidentially.

When to start

Applications open each fall with a deadline of February 28. Decisions are communicated by April.
