For Families

Apply for a bursary

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for the coming summer. Selection is based on demonstrated financial need, leadership potential, and space at partner camps.

A waterfall in the Canadian wilderness

Eligibility

  • New applicants must be at least 11 years old and 16 or under
  • Demonstrated financial need (income documentation required; household income is generally below $100,000, though individual circumstances are considered)
  • Evidence of leadership qualities
  • Camp must be OCA- or CCA-accredited and willing to participate in the cost-sharing arrangement

Returning campers must continue to meet eligibility requirements. The fund reviews camper reports from the camp each year to confirm the camper is benefitting from the experience.

How to apply

  1. 1Contact the camp you wish to attend and request a Bursary Fund Grant Application Form.
  2. 2Complete the form in full and submit it with all required documentation directly to the Bursary Fund by email.
  3. 3The Selection Committee reviews applications (typically in March). You will be contacted by the end of April with a decision.

Incomplete applications cannot be considered. Please do not send applications by registered mail.

What the grant covers

Our aim is to cover basic camp fees for one month. All for-profit partner camps offer a reduced fee for bursary recipients of 30%. Parents remain responsible for taxes, transportation, tuck, special equipment, and any fees beyond the standard one-month session.
